Happy Independence Day! Today, we celebrate the founding of our great nation. Enjoy the day and celebrate safely!
This spring, eighth graders from Hiland, Chestnut Ridge, and Mt. Hope embarked on an unforgettable journey to historic Gettysburg and Washington, D.C. Hiland students traveled first, and Chestnut Ridge and Mt. Hope groups went the following week. Students explored the battlefields of Gettysburg, where they walked in the footsteps of soldiers and gained a deeper understanding of that pivotal moment in American history. From there, they visited to the nation’s capital, where they experienced landmarks and museums. This trip is a fundamental building block of our students' understanding of our nation's history.

This spring, Hiland High School staged “Hydrangea Albright: Comedy or Tragedy?” as the spring play. The play, directed by Melissa Diener with the help of Mrs. Amy Schlabach and Mrs. Mallory Rearick handling costumes and makeup, was performed over three days. Audiences enjoyed the mix of humor and drama brought to life by our talented students. Thanks to all who attended and supported the cast and crew in another successful production!
Did you know that East Holmes Local Schools updates its Five Year Forecast in November and May each year?
A Five Year Forecast is a strategic financial projection outlining anticipated revenues, expenses, and trends over the next five years within the General Fund, with a retrospective view of three years. Focused on the District’s General Fund, which is responsible for day-to-day instructional activities, it excludes financial data from other managed funds like Food Service, Federal Grants, and Athletics.
In our ever-changing educational landscape, an accurate forecast is essential for financial planning and decision-making. It helps the District anticipate challenges, identify opportunities, and allocate resources in line with district goals. Providing a holistic view of our financial health, it considers enrollment trends, funding projections, and expenditure patterns.
By analyzing historical data and economic indicators, we create a realistic roadmap for our financial future. This forecast guides strategic planning, budget development, and resource allocation, promoting transparency and accountability.
To learn more, visit the district finance page on the district website, eastholmes.org, for current and historical forecasts.
Today is Flag Day, a day to honor and celebrate the history, symbolism, and significance of our American flag.
